The human body is unable to metabolize fat if it takes fewer than 5,000 steps a day. The lack of required exercise leads to the accumulation of fat in our body, which would lead to the development of diabetes and cardiovascular disease. It is also an established fact that people who have walked fewer than 4,000 steps a day cannot reverse a decreased fat metabolism.

To move more, start with about 2,000 steps per day. Then slowly increase the number through the steps below …
- Walk around the house every 15 minutes.

Age definitely seems to play a role in how much running people do. If, like me, you are over 55 and sometimes frustrated thinking about why you are not meeting your target step count, remember that the steps decrease with age.
- Adults over 18 take 4,000 to 18,000 steps a day.
- Children and adolescents and under the age of 18 take between 10,000 and 16,000 steps per day.
Remember that activity is important to staying healthy and if you overdo something you can never stay healthy. So walk around 5,000 steps a day, eat healthy, and keep smiling. That is the mantra for a positive life.
