Drew Barrymore’s Eyeliner Hack For Balancing Uneven Eyes

The trick, says Barrymore, is to tighten the top waterline of the eye, which appears flabby. "As you can see, one eye is lower than the other," she says in the video, pointing to her balls. In shading her upper waterline, she remarks, "It will open my eye to meet (the other)."

Then she wears her Flower Beauty Forever Wear eyeliner and lines her upper waterline. Make sure you stay within the waterline (read: not the lash line) to make it appear more natural and even. If you notice transmission along your lower waterline throughout the day, Barrymore suggests sliding a damp cotton swab over the edge. And there you have it: symmetrical eyes that look wide awake, flat in two minutes.

"It's a really cool trick," adds Barrymore. "I feel like my eyes look a lot smoother than before." The before and after has pretty strong contrast (don't take our word for it; check out the video!) But the hack is incredibly low. A worthy addition to your bank of beauty tips, if you ask us.

As for the color, any liner shade will work – Barrymore uses an onyx shade to match their black mascara, but you can always use a brown or taupe for a softer look.

What if you want to make your eyes appear even brighter? Well, makeup artists are quick to praise a border of white liner, a strategic highlighter, and a few other eye-opening hacks here.
