Emerge with Purpose
As we look forward to getting out of stillness and reconnecting with our lives, there is excitement in the air as we can finally get back to normal, but for many this can create a lot of fear. After a long separation from our friends, family and from the things that make us who we are; Detachment, separation, loss of purpose and direction are common themes.
The truth is that for many of us, as tough as the lockdown was, it was a massive break, it was easy to put our dreams and goals aside and prioritize survival over progress. The thought of stepping back into real life and seeing where we are face to face can be overwhelming. It is a frightening realization and an uncomfortable thought to know that we have lost sight of who we are, what makes us happy, and how we can express ourselves in the world.
We often come to the seemingly unfathomable question: "Is this all that life has to offer?" before we immediately run in the opposite direction and bury that feeling of dissatisfaction deep inside us for another day.
My mission is to smash any preconceived ideas you might have about the purpose.
It gets passed around a lot in the coaching world, it can feel unreachable, unreachable, something reserved for those on a mission to save the world or have a higher purpose.
Here's the thing: it really doesn't have to be that complicated. You can accomplish your purpose by simply reconnecting with yourself.
When I was at my lowest point two and a half years ago, I had lost all sense of my purpose. I just didn't know what value to bring to the world.
Community is important to me; I live from the value that this connection brings. I live out my purpose by being present in my community. Sometimes it can be as simple as connecting with the owner of a coffee shop. No, I am not saving the world, but it makes me happy and I feel connected.
Have you ever dealt with the question, "What value do I want to bring to the world" by simply chatting with the person who owns your local coffee shop?
Your purpose is yours Why
It is your compass in your life
How to connect with the world
- The purpose is not a single goal
- It is not a goal
- It is not reserved who we perceive as "gifted" people
- It's not necessarily defined by your career (I know shocker)
I want to say the purpose is the value you bring to the world as you see it.
Direction instead of goal
Avoid defining the end as your purpose. Your goal is your milestone or your goal. Your destination is the direction you want to travel. France is the destination, if you choose to get there there is a direction. Our goals are also to be teachers, nurses or singers. Educating, helping, or entertaining people is a purpose.
Resonates with who you are
What do you love to do Your purpose should reflect your passion and values. This requires a certain level of self-awareness as the only way to know your passion and values is if you are willing to do the work to uncover them.
Rooted in love, not fear
Your goal should be to set you free and centered on love, not fear or your EGO. Goals like “being rich”, “being successful” or “having status” are based on fear. Your purpose should come from within.
Grab your diary and answer these questions:
- What do you like to do
When we have lost sight of who we are, reconnecting with something that made you happy as a child can have a tremendously positive impact on your spiritual wellbeing. - What do you find easy?
Living on purpose shouldn't be forced, it should feel balanced and integrated. - Ask yourself: what are two things I love to express in the world?
- Then ask: What are two ways I prefer to express these things?
- When did you feel most fulfilled? What has changed since then?
We don't have a single purpose, life isn't that linear, it will change how we do it and the world around us. It is not surprising that after such a strange time in our lives we feel lost. The good news is, through some time and attention, you can find a path back that leads you to show up on purpose.
