Experiencing Silence Through Noise

I am looking for silence

Silence creates peace and with peace comes security. ~ African proverb

The need to investigate this question has come to me at a time when this year the world was forced to stop and reset, and we all had an opportunity to listen to the silence within us. What do you think of when you think of silence? Is it boredom to be alone or lonely, or do you ask, "Why should I want silence?" The pursuit of silence is not something we have been taught in this society. We have been conditioned to view the noise and chatter as normal. However, the more we try to cultivate stillness and silence, the more our life takes on a whole new meaning that we may not have seen before – silence gives us the opportunity to stop. Stop being in our heads and be more in our bodies and connect with the life force of nature. When we tune into silence, it can stir up many layers inside, neither good nor bad, but it allows for shifting and transformation.

vibration

"We are healthy, we vibrate, we feel, we loosen, we are healthy" – Jaha Browne

This quote reminds me that it is a wonderful thing that life itself moves and always will move in silence. Although this concept is still fairly new to modern science, it was discovered and recognized thousands of years ago by the great master of Egypt. By default we associate silence with stillness and without movement, but nothing never rests and it can be very powerful to access. The vibrations you feel in a sound meditation not only come from the sounds received by your ears, you can also feel the sounds vibrate through your body. We feel, smell and touch vibrations. Syntheses are common in sound baths as they can be a multi-sensory experience for some.

Old practice

“In sound we are born, in sound we are healed” – Mehtab Benton

Sound healing is an ancient practice that dates back thousands of years and is deeply rooted in many cultures around the world. A sound bath is a meditative experience in which those present are "bathed" in sound waves. Instruments such as gongs, singing bowls, chimes, rattles, tuning forks, and the human voice are used as part of the experience. Sound is vibration. And we are vibration. So when you are in a sound bath, things that you cannot explain or understand are shifted within you. Sound healing helps reduce stress and blood pressure, and can improve sleep. These sessions can be used Treat a range of medical conditions including anxiety, depression, post-traumatic stress disorder, autism, and dementia. This practice is Yang and Yin and combines silence and noise.

Go inside

“Use the silence at the end of a bath as a silent gong” – Leo Cosendai

The daily sounds can get overwhelming – from WhatsApp notifications to millions of voices online, the visual noise can get too loud. Sound meditation can be the only place where one can find stillness and stillness. Through the vibrations generated by powerful sound tools, we can trigger and facilitate our own healing. On a deeper level, the sound enables us to create the silence within us, since we are cocooned by the sound, we are allowed to be still. That is why I am so in love with sound meditation and its unique transformative powers. When the sounds bathe you, time disappears and the non-rhythmic beats flow through you. When the silence occurs at the end, it can be most effective and fuel inner development.

The power that lies in noise and in silence

"The loudest sound in the world is silence" – Thelonious Monk

Immersing yourself in the power of stillness is truly a gift that your body, mind, and soul will appreciate when you allow yourself to be present for them. We have been conditioned to the fact that the noises comfort us, and in the noise of the hectic we feel connected to the outside. Even if we don't fully engage or like the noise, we know it to be productive and fun. Yet it is the silence that enables us to heal. Both noise and silence are important as the polar opposites allow us to stay balanced and create a rich foundation for exploring the layers within ourselves. We cannot hide and face ourselves in sound meditation and it can be deeply uncomfortable depending on what needs to be released, if at all. Sound meditation is a chance to seek our truth, a truth that is usually tarnished by internal and external factors.

I firmly believe that sound meditation is an accessible portal for all of us through which we can use the power we all have within us to do what we need to rise up in this life.
