Five-Ingredient Braised Chicken Thighs With Tomato & Horseradish

If there's one cooking technique synonymous with autumn, it's braising – and if there's one protein that works well for braising, it's chicken legs. The best part about cooking this way is that you don't need a lot of ingredients for a lot of flavor – just a little patience.

This simple recipe uses just five ingredients (if you don't count the few staples in the pantry like salt, pepper, olive oil, and flour), but it has plenty of pizzazz thanks to horseradish. The hot, spicy taste goes perfectly with the slightly sour tomatoes and the salty broth.

"This is a unique dish that uses a few ingredients and cooking techniques to create a calming meal," writes Rebecca White in The Ultimate 5-Ingredient Cookbook. "The horseradish and tomatoes when cooked together make a sauce that is perfect for braising chicken legs. The lemon juice and peel complement the braised sauce and help hold the dish together."
