Food Fads-organic foods and gluten-free foods
Organic food
Why is? I've read and heard a lot about organic foods. Allow me to explain it to you. Organic food is grown using organic farming methods. Minimal amounts of synthetic pesticides and fertilizers are used after this cultivation method. The pesticides used are organic in nature. Organic food isn't even processed using artificial methods. It's all done using natural methods with no chemicals.
Pricing? In terms of price, it's more expensive than commercially processed foods. For example, I came across organic dal in a supermarket. The price of the organic dal was higher than the normal dal you can get.
Benefits of Organic Food
- The food does not contain residues of harmful pesticides as no synthetic chemicals are used. So you can be sure that no chemical pesticide gets into your system.
- It's also environmentally friendly as it helps reduce chemical pesticide pollution.
- Organic food is fresher and tastes better.
Gluten-free food
Why is? There has been a lot of Hullabaloo lately. Gluten is a protein found in wheat, rye, barley and hybrids of these grains. Some people are allergic to gluten. You have celiac disease. It is a disorder of the small intestine; Because of the disorder, the patient's natural defense system reacts to gluten by attacking the lining of the small intestine. The body is therefore unable to absorb the nutrients from the food it eats. Eating gluten free is mainly for these people.
Foods that are considered gluten-free
- Corn
- rice
- Buck wheat
- Amaranth
- millet
- soy
- Dairy products (milk, butter, cheese, margarine, quark)
- fruit
- vegetables
- Eggs
- nuts
- Beans
- legumes
Pricing? Gluten-free food is expensive and doesn't fit in every pocket.
According to one study that was conducted, it was found that dieting is unnecessary for those without celiac disease or gluten sensitivity. It's a food craze. It eventually turned out to be a fad and so many people are into this type of diet.
People with celiac disease need to stick to the diet, but normal people care just because they feel healthier. You can find a lot of gluten free stuff these days (mostly bread).
There is a lack of awareness of celiac disease in India. For people without this disease, this isn't a good bet, as a gluten-free diet means you will be lacking the vitamins and minerals that whole grains have to offer.
