How to Boost Your Immunity This Winter

Heya,

How are you ? How is your family ? What about your friends and colleagues? If everyone is fine, it means that the people around you have very good immune systems :). If not, maybe everyone should read this post. I always want to get everyone to read my jokes, lolz 😛

The weather here in Bangalore is such that everyone around me has taken at least one sick leave in the past 15 days. In northern India, winters are in full bloom. Immunity has become the most sought-after word, especially in the last year, as the coronavirus devours almost anyone with low immunity. Now that the second strain of the corona virus is in circulation, it is becoming even more important for everyone to strengthen the immune system.

How to Boost Your Immunity This Winter

Let's see how we can protect ourselves from colds, flu or other allergies.

water

Haanji :). Maybe I could live without air, but not without water (see exaggeration 😛). WBC transports water through the body. WBC are responsible for fighting disease and keeping you healthy. If you feel like you are getting sick, increase your water intake. Make sure you are drinking clean water. Avoid drinking water in restaurants, especially in this weather. Order a mineral water bottle instead of drinking regular water.

sleep

We all need 7-8 hours of sleep. Lack of sleep leads to fatigue, weight gain and decrease in immunity. Make sure you are getting your dose of good sleep.

Healthy eating

Junk food not only contains empty calories minus nutrition, but it also hinders your system (read body). The few important nutrients for boosting immunity are vitamins (A, C, D, E), zinc, omega-3 fatty acids, and protein. How do you get it? Nuts, fruits, eggs, white meat, vegetables, seeds, etc.

Of the above nutrients, vitamin C is the most important nutrient for preventing / fighting colds. All citrus fruits like orange, kiwi fruit, and berries are high in vitamin C. Antioxidants like brown rice are also a good source of vitamin C.

You can get vitamin D from the sun. If you have a cold / cough and you spend 15 to 20 minutes in the sun, you feel better 🙂

exercise

Even if you are fit, 20 to 30 minutes of rapid exercise 3-4 times a week is enough to boost immunity. If you complain that there is only 24 hours a day and you probably want to increase the number, try HIIT. HIIT is a fast workout for burning fat, read here and here.

Probiotics

Our digestion and immunity are immediately related to the health of your gut. You can increase the probiotics in your diet if you get sick or feel like you will soon be able to.

Garma Garam Chai 🙂

Adrak wali chai is a must in winter! I just finished my cup of tea, what about you?
