Long Term, Low Carb Diets Not Superior to Other Diets
Not all low carbohydrate diets are created equal and more rigorous experimentation is required.
The researchers at Stanford University's School of Medicine in Palo Alto, California behind the recent review of the benefits of a low-carb diet found many problems with the benefits and risks, and consider these approaches controversial and unsolved, especially for very low-carb diets Carbohydrate Diets (VLCD). They also concluded that beyond six months the benefits of a low-carbohydrate diet wear off, and that long-term weight loss and control is no better than other diets.
