Remote Reiki Healing

Illness and injury are hard to accept when your life revolves around wellness and healing. In the past year I had pneumonia, a badly sprained ankle and the dreaded coronavirus. I sometimes think that as a holistic healer these things happen to me so that I can “learn on the job” so to speak – it adds a bit of dark humor to the situation and somehow gives me the drive to overcome it.

Pneumonia is a strange one; it forces you to remain completely still between excruciating bouts of relentless coughing. You have to sleep sitting down or in front of you or you will gasp for air. Breathing can become difficult and painful.

When I was told I had the flu, my inner voice urged differently. After an X-ray, I was diagnosed with pneumonia. Lung infection! As? I was a healthy, active 30 year old, a nonsmoker, or a drinker with a preference for healthy eating. Before doing anything, I would sometimes sleep two or three naps a day and make sure I was well hydrated with plenty of water and soothing herbal tea.

I asked my body what it needed and listened ~ I had a vision of a golden ginko biloba leaf and knew this was the herbal medicine I needed. I wasn't even aware of its properties at the time, but I trusted my vision and reaped the rewards of this incredible herbal ally – its potent blend of antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and brain-boosting properties made my recovery swift and lifted any brain fog Ease.

If we turn to certain foods or flavors in times of need or suddenly develop an interest in them, we change our usual eating habits and tend to adjust to our needs on a subconscious level.

Our innate intelligence guides us and sometimes leads us to food or natural medicine through hunches, cravings or ideas.

We turn to fresh ginger and lemon, thyme, oregano, sage or rosemary soaked in warm water, fresh pineapple, blueberries, hearty, easily digestible stews with lots of garlic, turmeric and black pepper. We may even be made to cut out most of the foods we normally eat. We treat each other intuitively.

For me there were two allies who changed the course of my recovery; Chaga mushrooms and linden blossom. I wholeheartedly recommend them as wonderfully supportive herbal medicines to consider during this challenging time.

Chaga mushrooms are an antioxidant powerhouse known to boost the immune system, reduce inflammation, fight free radicals, and clear the lungs of phlegm. Stir 1 teaspoon of chaga powder through heated plant milk for a daily boost.

Linden blossom tea is as comforting as a grandmother's friendly hug. Traditionally used in Turkey and the Balkans for its medicinal properties, it fights congestion, relieves coughs and sore throats, and has mild sedative effects. Hence, it is a port of call for people with anxiety. It not only supports us in the event of illness, but also with lasting effects. Linden blossoms smell of heaven; They come from the linden tree, which is also known from the linden tree (not of the fruit-bearing type). A daily cup has become a ritual for me, times are strange and their medicine is exactly the remedy I yearn for.

When we are sick, we need to slow down, turn inward, and have confidence.

Part of us surrenders; Our struggles can be silent when we rest and heal. In our silence we may open a dialogue with our higher selves, guides and ancestors as they keep us through everything. I asked mine to keep me in their care when I was sick and turned to both Reiki and sound therapy to help my body heal itself faster.

In survival mode, our natural intelligence takes over. If we manage to put aside our fears in moments of vulnerability, our intuition guides us to the most suitable natural medicines to cure our condition. We are all individuals and our physiologies are different. That is why it is so important to listen to our inner voice. What could work for one person may not work for another. Have you wondered what you need? Give it a try, you might be completely surprised.

With a spiritual foundation, a belief in energy medicine, and a belief in the potency and healing properties of herbal allies, we can completely overlook fear! Isn't it a nice thing to trust, to surrender and to know that everything will be fine?

Let's talk about prevention now.

Did you know that sacred smoke is not only for ritual or spiritual purposes? Studies show that burning medicinal herbs like sage or rosemary can relieve the home of up to 97% of airborne discomforts. The ancients and ancestors certainly knew what they were doing.

Eucalyptus and tea tree also purify the air with their antibacterial properties. Use a few drops of (ethically made) essential oil in a diffuser for added home protection and to help clear your airways. Sometimes I drop something on a tissue and stuff it on top of myself when I'm out. Cut an onion in half and leave it in the air at home. This is also known to cleanse airborne diseases. It's a cheap option, but not the most pleasant aroma!

Studies also show that a good chicken bone broth has powerful healing properties, especially for flu-like symptoms. So pay attention to this old woman's stories, they are smarter than we attribute to them.

Fruits, vegetables, legumes, organic meat and hedge food such as elderberry, chickweed, cleaver, yarrow and medicinal mushrooms contain more than enough immune-boosting vitamins and minerals. We just need to know how to improve their properties in order to get the greatest rewards. For example, if you mash a clove of garlic and let it sit for about half an hour, it will produce a higher amount of its antioxidant and anti-inflammatory compound, allicin.

Overdosing on artificial supplements like soluble vitamin C can lead to a really sore, crampy stomach and seedy gut. Our body is about balance. Too much of a vitamin or mineral can deplete others we depend on. Listen to what your body is telling you and work with what nature has to offer. It really is that simple.

We should never ignore medical advice or refuse medical treatment, especially when our lives are in danger, but we must also remember that Mother Nature and her endless life force are generous. When we turn to her, she will lovingly support us in times of need.
