Simple Stretching Exercises At Work
After I returned to the office after Covid wfh, one of my colleagues asked me today what I do when I am sitting at my desk. I said "ummmm I don't know". I thought he was crazy;]. but on the second thought I realized he was right. Without knowing it, I stretch myself while working, perhaps out of boredom: P. In fact, I stretch myself even when I am inundated with work. I can only blame my genetics for the fact that I cannot sit peacefully 🙂
After this realization hit me, I pinged my colleague and told them I would analyze what I am doing and get in touch with them.
You may not realize the importance of stretching until you have back pain from sitting in the office for a long time. Ladies and gentlemen, prevention is better than cure and stretching is better than pain relievers
Simple stretches at work
P.S – These stretches don't attract attention, so don't worry, I am not asking you to do Yoga Aasan unless you want to 😉
1. Neck movement – Tell me how you move your head when you say "no" and "yes". As simple as that :]. Move your neck up, down, left, and right. Make it a habit and you don't need a reminder.
2. Arm stretch – I bring my arms forward, palms out, and straighten.
3. Stretch your back – Both hands behind your back as you sit in your chair and stretch.
4. Shrug – Don't tell me you don't know how to shrug :]. This will relax your shoulders.
5. Wink – Ideally, if you have been in front of your computer for more than half an hour, you should close your eyes for 20 seconds and look away from your screen. I usually close my eyes and move my neck while thinking. This gives my eyes a break from UV rays given off by the monitor.
6. Leg extension – While sitting in your chair, simply raise your legs parallel to the floor.
