The One Asana To Get You Focused This Season
We are creatures that don't like change. However, this year has proven that change is the only thing that is certain these days. At the beginning of a new season, let's take a moment to stop and take stock.
Where did the summer go?
Ok, let's be honest, we are entering this season and with it a new form of "normality" as the schools are back and the workplaces are welcoming more and more people into the office.
Since we mostly scrap and change our plans, we certainly have less control.
Before this month disappears in an instant, let's take a moment and imagine how you would like to step into tomorrow.
- How would it feel to be more focused?
- How would it feel to feel good every day?
- How would it feel to start tomorrow knowing that anything is possible?
- How would you feel if this fall was the best part of this year?
- How would you feel if you could effortlessly skip over and be fully aligned on a mental, physical, and emotional level?
I think you would feel fucking AMAZING!
Let's do this and, amid all the opportunities and uncertainties that we face, let's ground ourselves and find a moment each day to reconnect with who we are. With deep, nourishing breaths and mindful movements as That's the only thing we can do for sure.
It's time to shake off what has held you back in the past and find your flow to develop conscious actions for your big dreams! To shake it off, I suggest putting on your favorite music and dancing your heart out. And to get the most out of the rest of 2020, you can choose to get focused and engaged.
Mindful exercise coupled with mindful breathing can help you become grounded and get the most out of the next few months.
Reverse Warrior is one of my favorites.
I love this pose because it grounds and empowers at the same time.
There is an unstoppable force in a strong and calm warrior, firmly rooted in the ground but rising high with elegance and pride. We look with purpose and focus with softness.
According to yogic teachings, “Reverse Warrior teaches us to stand strong on our mats, just as we strive to be strong in the highest, most benevolent truth of who we are. And when we look up as if we are heading towards our potential, we also fall back for assistance. We are therefore encouraged to resort to the tools we need to navigate the inner realms of the ego. "
So after your dance party, take a moment to set up your pose. Take a broad stance. Bend your front knee in line with your front toes whenever possible. Keep the back leg rooted, straight, and strong. Turn on glutes. Marine lift up. Chest raised. Torso in the middle. Arms wide, looking in line with the fingertips of the forearm. Also try to shift your gaze while lifting your forearm. For added challenge, try lifting your front heel off the floor. Stay here for 5 deep, long, full breaths.
Then switch sides.
In my personal practice as a teacher Reverse Warrior helps me focus with all of my senses. It helps me focus and become open to all possibilities by creating space in my side body and hips.
Try it on both sides and comment below how to do it.
With love as always
