There is Nothing Passive About “Having Faith”
Where there is faith there is doubt. It is the law of duality. If belief is lightness, then doubt is density.
Personally, I want more easy and less difficult in my life. I want a belief that will ease my hunger pains, one that is protective enough to keep the excitement of doubt at bay. Like a flashlight, believe in the best decision. ONE Faith that drifts I keep doing what needs to be done.
I was raised Catholic. I grew up in the New Age. Both faith camps gave me a picture of faith that was softly lit and very … flowing. I should direct my faith outward, to heaven, to the cosmos and just Breeeathe. And through this careful exercise of trust, everything would be fine – I would be rewarded for my faith.
Enter doubt – because doubts always arise. And doubt, the opposite of trustis gnarled. It is not fluid, it takes hold. Doubts don't take the long run because panic is happening right now! Doubt does not look at the light because it is based on survival.
If trust is paradise, doubt is a weed. How do you water faith when doubt is inevitable? With daily care. When planting a garden, fertilize it and do everything possible to prevent weeds from asphyxiating it. Faith is also watchful. It is anything but passive.
I don't think we can just surrender our desires to life and say, "You got that, right?" and then expect life to resolve our doubts as well as you answer your prayers. Yes, place your desires in the care of universal intelligence. Yes / Yes! But you have to be responsible for your own doubts– because they come from you. Clearing up your doubts is part of being a co-creator.
When in doubt, don't just pour "I have faith" affirmations. Face the doubt and remove it.
Faith is the "work" in "light work". It scrubs and rinses and steadily erases doubt. Faith remains in doubt: I see you. I dissolve you I replace you with faith. And then doubts arise again. And belief is right there: Yes i heard you I choose faith. Yes, I know the odds, I choose Faith. And because Faith knows the natural order of things, she says to doubt: You'll likely be back later this week. And you might even distract me. But I'll still choose Faith. No anger, just clarity. No complaints, just pure, fiery determination.
Doubt is not a failure, but a reminder to nurture and protect your positive beliefs.
Belief is not something you "have" but something you do. And if you do it consistently – the erasing, the focusing, the nourishing … getting back on track, you will get exactly the ease you crave.
With kindest regards,
