Top Health Benefits Of Satvik Or Yogic Diet
Hello everybody,
You have all heard the buzzword "detox". What do you really want to achieve with it? Some say weight loss, people like me say healthy skin and a healthy colon. I will divide this topic into two parts, the first being the Satvik Diet and the second being the Kosher Diet. All of this comes from yoga. Yogis often dictate this type of diet, which includes fresh vegetables, no alcohol and of course no smoking.
The Satvik foods are those that are healthy, fresh, light, easy to digest, and soothing to the mind. You are not putting your digestive system under pressure trying to improve your fitness and general wellbeing, and if you want to do yoga regularly and show the benefits, then you need to try the Satvik Diet which is nothing more than simple vegetarian food.
The Satvik foods promote focus and clarity of mind, and you will not get sugar flare-ups or mood swings after a Satvik diet. Rice, milk, ghee, honey, beans, fresh fruits and vegetables such as carrots, bottle gourd and sprouts are considered Satvik foods. In a Satvik diet, onions, garlic, and cauliflower are said to increase tension and promote lethargy, so they should be avoided.
Some Health Benefits of a Satvik Diet:
1. Promotes a healthy colon and reduces constipation problems and other related diseases:
I am not saying that you will become a total yogi and a very boring person, but some days of the week you can easily have this type of food and give your body rest. It's like fasting, where your digestive system gets a lot of well-deserved rest. My father complained of knee pain and is a mutton lover. The doctor suggested that he avoid mutton, and he did so for some time. The pain actually subsided. Likewise, one day I had a very bad stomach because I ate out for a few days, which I am usually not used to. I had severe pain in my legs and wondered what had happened. I took a break for a day, ate light satvik food, and my leg pain went away.
Food is forever tied to our system, we need food to survive, but do we need that junk food, alcohol, that carbonated cola in your hand? No, you need groundwater, food to survive, but yes you do your green, legumes to keep yourself going. So eating satvik promotes a healthy colon, which in turn will help you avoid any problems associated with it.
2. Keeps your skin younger:
The biggest culprit in your diet is white sugar, which is really of no use to your skin. If you want healthy, glowing skin, take a day out of Satvik food and notice the difference. I am a vegetarian, I believe meat eaters can never understand that a Satvik diet can make you look years younger. This is just my opinion on meat eaters. I noticed it. And I'm not excluding fish; what is considered healthy.
3. Keeps the mind fresh:
Have you been feeling sluggish lately? Be careful with your diet, you may avoid all meals in a day and then have a pizza afterwards, but is it doing you any good? Your energy levels will eventually go down, so you need proper nutrition. Eating Satvik foods will keep your mind fresh and you will stay happy. You should always keep your mind cool as these foods do not disturb your digestion.
4. Keeps you fit:
I don't support diets, be it Atkins or South Beach. I believe that the food that your mother has been giving you for many years, simple Dal Chawal, Roti and Sabzi, is the best choice for Indians. We are used to eating this rather than pizza, burgers, etc. Indian food is the most fulfilling. Eat what your genes are used to and you will always be fit. And if you've eaten a lot of meat this vacation, try to skip in between. Usually Indians follow a specific day when they skip meat and the exact reason for this is 🙂
5. Keeps your joints and ligaments intact:
The gases released by our bodies are due to the food we eat. Often times, blockages lead to pain in the knees, legs, etc. I've seen my father have terrible knee pain. The best way to counteract this is moderate exercise as recommended by your physical therapist and along with a simple diet of easily digestible foods. Avoid anything that is wrapped, eat fresh, and have lots of greens. You don't need any medication at all if it's in the early stages.
Until then, just eat and show those dimples 😉
When will you start Satvik diet and yoga?
