Turkey schnitzel with parmesan crust

These parmesan crusted breaded turkey schnitzel are lightly fried in just enough oil and butter to make them delicious without being greasy or high in calories. They're super easy to make – just season the meat with salt and pepper, dip it in egg whites, then coat it with the breadcrumbs and parmesan cheese mixture. My family and I love them with freshly squeezed lemon. Other breaded schnitzel recipes we love are these breaded chicken schnitzel with deconstructed guacamole and breaded pork chops with lime.

Can I cut turkey fillet into chops?

If you can't find turkey schnitzel in your supermarket, you can buy a turkey fillet for this turkey schnitzel recipe and cut it into thin slices.

Cook the cutlets in the air fryer

To cook schnitzel in the air fryer, first spray both sides of the schnitzel with oil. Then place in the air fryer at 400 degrees for 6-7 minutes. Turn halfway and remove when the crumbs are golden brown and the center is no longer pink.

What to serve with breaded turkey

Turkey schnitzel is a great accompaniment to roasted beans or roasted cauliflower and a salad. You can also serve them with mashed potatoes or smashed sweet potatoes or over spaghetti or zucchini noodles with marinara sauce.

Variations:

  • Swap the turkey for chicken chops or thinly slice a turkey fillet to make your own.
  • You can also leave out the cheese if you'd like.
  • If you are allergic to eggs, replace them with olive oil.
  • Swap the breadcrumbs for panko or parmesan for pecorino romano.
  • If you don't want to fry the schnitzel in the pan, fry them in the open or bake them in the oven at 400 degrees for about 20 minutes.
  • Add capers to finish the dish.
