four Issues A GI Doc Prioritizes Each Morning For Good Intestine Well being

Most mornings can benefit from a cup of coffee, but that doesn't mean every morning should start with a cup of coffee.

"Something that has become a big game changer for me starts the morning with two large glasses of water," says Bulsiewicz. "I haven't given up on coffee. I won't give up on coffee. I've just found that my body reacts better when I reach for water first."

Think about it. In order not to wake up in the middle of the night to pee, urologist Vannita Simma-Chiang, M.D. recommends taking one last sip of water about three hours before bedtime. When people follow this rule, it will be about 11 hours without hydration before they wake up.

"Your body needs this water to function properly," says Bulsiewicz. "My brain, gut, and kidneys all seem to be working better when I start with water instead of coffee."
